Jurgen Klinsmann has re-iterated his desire to get the Tottenham Hotspur job on the BBC Daily Euro’s podcast.
Klinsmann said last week that he would be keen to land the Tottenham job if it was offered to him by Daniel Levy.
And the German has now opened up about his love for Spurs making him want the job so much.
“Spurs is my heart. I had the most wonderful time there, two times actually at Spurs in different circumstances and I follow the Premier League,” he said.
“When you start work as a manager you are always on the look if there is work out there and if there’s a new project that can fascinate you and what would be interesting to you.
“My life went a bit different to other careers as at the beginning I never thought I was going to be a manager then I suddenly coached Germany at a World Cup!
“You are always open to it, when things happen. Now when people ask me about Spurs and would that be a possibility? Absolutely because you love that club.
“The decision makers have a huge responsibility on their shoulders. They need to see the future of the club and determine where they stand right now. They have to analyse what happened in their recent past and there’s a lot what happened with Spurs in recent years.
“When Gary asked me would you consider? Yeah, absolutely. But at the end of the day it’s their vision which they have and their strategy that they have within the club. Let’s see what they’re going to do in the next couple of weeks.”
Good appointment?
Klinsmann, of course, went down as a Tottenham great as a player, but there are question marks over whether he is the right manager for them at the current time.
While his appointment would be far less controversial than Gennaro Gattuso or Paulo Fonseca, it still wouldn’t be a particularly ambitious one.
Klinsmann has had relatively mixed success over his managerial career to date.
He led Germany to third place at the 2006 World Cup and was widely credited for the job he did as USA manager.
However, his most recent spell as Hertha Berlin manager wasn’t successful at all.
Klinsmann would at least have Tottenham connections if he was to take over though.
And after so long without a manager, Spurs fans would surely give their club legend their backing if he was to takeover.
