Marcus Edwards has been the name on the mind of almost every Tottenham Hotspur fan over the past week.
The young Englishman starred against Spurs in the Champions League for Sporting this time last week, and many have been bemoaning the London club’s decision to let Edwards go a few years ago.
We can absolutely understand that sentiment, Edwards is now starring in Portugal and on the biggest stage in Europe, so it makes sense for Spurs to be feeling some element of regret around the young winger.
However, in our view, there’s another player in Europe that may actually make this whole Marcus Edwards situation look minor in years to come.
Of course, we’re talking about Noni Madueke.

Madueke, just like Edwards, was on Spurs’ books before leaving for PSV in search of more first-team opportunities.
Well, those opportunities have presented themselves over in Eindhoven, and it’s fair to say that this young man looks to be the real deal.
Madueke has been shining in the Eredvisie for two years now, netting seven goals in 24 appearances as a teenager in his debut season, putting in landmark performances against the likes of Ajax and Feyenoord.
Just like Edwards, Madueke is shining in one of Europe’s smaller leagues, but there is reason to believe that his ceiling could be even higher than the Englishman’s. After all, he is three years younger and he has more experience of playing in European competition.
Madueke looks like an absolute superstar in the making, and at the age of 20, the sky is the limit for this young man.
If Madueke reaches his potential, Spurs may regret letting him go even more than they’re regretting their Edwards decision.
