Tottenham Hotspur are nearing the day when they’ll need to replace Hugo Lloris.

The France international has been a brilliant servant for Spurs since joining way back in 2012.

But increasingly, the former Lyon goalkeeper is making mistakes for Tottenham.

He made a number of in the North London derby defeat by Arsenal on Sunday evening.

And honestly, a Lloris howler isn’t even considered that much of a surprise any longer, which tells its own story.

Fabrizio Romano has now told Caught Offside that the Lilywhites have as many as four goalkeepers on the shortlist of potential replacements for the 36-year-old.

He said: “Spurs are also considering a new goalkeeper. There are three or four names on the list at Tottenham. But they’re focused on January window, it’s too early to say who’s going be the new goalkeeper. Full focus is on January.”

The sad thing about Lloris is that he is capable of world-class performances.

And this is what will puzzle Tottenham boss Antonio Conte no end.

How can he get the Frenchman to be a lot more consistent, somewhat immune to the clangers he has been prone to for much of this season?

It’s a dilemma but either way, Lloris is 36 and Tottenahm are dead right to be looking at long-term successors.
