Tottenham Hotspur have sent out an official line of communication that reports that they can sack Nuno for free if he doesn’t make it into the top six are untrue, the View from the Lane podcast say.
Spurs react
The Athletic ran an article yesterday effectively suggesting that Tottenham have inserted a get out cause in Nuno’s contract.
The report claims that if Spurs are to fail to live up to expectations this term then Nuno won’t be due compensation.
However, in the View from the Lane podcast, which is also run by the Athletic, there was an update given.
Host Danny Kelly suggested that he had heard from Tottenham that the claims over Nuno had been denied almost immediately.
He said: “We should say at this point that Spurs have denied this story and described it as pretty much untrue, but Ornstein usually has these things in order.”

Safer future?
If there is no such clause then Nuno’s future at Spurs may look slightly more secure.
However, if he fails to make it into the top six his position may be untenable anyway.
Nuno hasn’t entirely won over the Tottenham fan base so far, with some concerns still lingering over his viability for the role.
That being said the Spurs boss has at least enjoyed a productive week.
After losing to Arsenal the pressure really was on Nuno, but Tottenham have managed to record back-to-back wins to move up the table again.
Spurs are next in action after the international break when they take on Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
