The Tottenham Hotspur man was starstruck by the legendary Dutchman.
Harry Winks has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that it was an ‘unbelievable’ experience watching Edgar Davids train with the club’s first team.
The 20-year-old has broken into Tottenham’s senior squad this season, managing four Premier League games under Mauricio Pochettino so far – all from the bench.
The youngster is one of several highly-rated prospects at the North London club, having spent his whole career with the Lilywhites so far.
And Winks has reflected on his early days and, in particular, observing the Dutch legend – who spent two years at White Hart Lane until 2007 – in training.
“Yes, I do. I was about 15 or 16, it was around that time. Previously I’d seen training a lot,” he told the club’s official website.
“I think Edgar Davids was here, he was training, I remember being a young lad at the time and I just couldn’t believe it – Edgar was quite experienced and I remember him literally just bossing training. He was something else!”
With Tottenham out of the League Cup, Winks could find first-team chances hard to come by for the rest of the season.
Consequently, Pochettino may wonder whether it is beneficial for the youngster to leave on loan in the January transfer window.
