Does Harry Winks have a future at Tottenham Hotspur?
If Harry Winks reads the newspapers, he must have noticed that Tottenham Hotspur are getting linked to quite a few midfielders.
Earlier this month Spurs were touted to move for Thomas Delaney and Amadou Diawara, while earlier in the week it was reported by Calciomercato that Tottenham are front-runners for Andre Gomes.
If that wasn’t bad enough for Winks’s situation, then The Mirror claimed on Wednesday that Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves is now a target.
And all the speculation forces one simple question: Will the 22-year-old have a role to play in North London next season?
Winks hasn’t kicked a ball for Tottenham since January due to an ankle problem and although he could yet play again this season [The Standard], the multitude of rumours about signing someone in his position can’t bode well.
It indicates that Mauricio Pochettino intends on signing an upgrade for the one-time England international, who is already behind Mousa Dembele in the pecking order.
Having come through the club’s academy, Winks is a very popular figure among fans of the Lilywhites, but they could and should be fearing the worst for his future if even one of those transfer rumours materialises this summer.
