It’s not been a good few weeks for Tottenham Hotspur, with players having been ruled out through injury or international duty, very little activity in the transfer market, and being eliminated from the Carabao Cup at the hands of Chelsea in their semi-final second leg.

However, after all the despair, the tide finally seems to be turning, with Harry Kane’s rehabilitation going well, judging by the social media update he posted earlier this week in which he is now walking with both trainers again.

Just like buses, you wait ages for one then two come along – it’s the same for positive updates in terms in Spurs personnel, as forward Son Heung-min is now able to return to north London after his South Korea side were knocked out of the Asian Cup.

The Taeguk Warriors were beaten 1-0 by Qatar in the quarter-finals, which means the Tottenham forward – who played the full 90 minutes and cut a forlorn figure at the end of the game – will no longer need to be in Abu Dhabi for the semi-finals on January 29 or the final on February 1.

Although it seems like Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Crystal Palace may have come a bit too soon, the 26-year-old could potentially feature in the Premier League game against Watford at Wembley next Wednesday.

Spurs tweeted their commiserations to Son and South Korea after their defeat but, judging by the fan reaction on Twitter, every cloud certainly has a silver lining – here is a snapshot of some of the responses:
