The Spurs keeper was in inspired form to keep Borussia Dortmund at bay in their last-16 second leg.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been recognised for his performance in the Champions League last-16 second leg against Borussia Dortmund by being named amongst the nominees for the competition’s Player of the Week award.
The Frenchman was in inspired form as the Bundesliga side sought to overturn their 3-0 deficit from the first leg, taking the game to Spurs from the off and causing havoc within the visitors’ back line with their speed and movement.
Were it not for Lloris pulling off numerous great saves, Lucien Favre’s charges would have headed into the break at least one goal up and could have regrouped for a second-half assault against an increasingly nervous Tottenham side, but as it turned out, the first half ended goalless and it was advantage Spurs.
The 32-year-old made seven saves on the night, including a superb fingertip stop to deny a Mario Gotze effort, and as it turned out, Harry Kane fired home a winner against the run of play just after half time to make it 4-0 on aggregate and rubber-stamp the North Londoners’ passage to the quarter-finals.
