Spurs fans should be buzzing as 'best manager in the world' reportedly wants N17 move

Tottenham Hotspur fans won’t be getting much respite over the international break.

For most club supporters, the most they have to worry about is the prospect of injuries to their players on duty.

However, Spurs fans could well find themselves with a new manager at the helm by the time league action resumes.

Antonio Conte took “brutally honest” to a whole new level after Saturday’s draw with Southampton.

With that in mind, the expectation is that the Italian is now on borrowed time at N17.

Plenty of managers have been linked with the Spurs reins in recent months.

But none will elicit an emotional reaction quite like Mauricio Pochettino.

The 51-year-old remains a fan favourite at Tottenham thanks to his efforts during his time at the club.

Spurs regularly challenged for the title and even reached the Champions League final under Pochettino.

‘Pushing like mad’

With that in mind, Pochettino remains linked with the Tottenham reins.

And as he’s out of work, it’s not like he’s an implausible target for Spurs.

Now, two reports doing the rounds suggest Tottenham actually have a good chance of bringing Pochettino back.

However, both come with caveats.

Journalist Shaun Custis recently told talkSPORT that “Pochettino has been pushing like mad to get his job back.”

That said, he did also say Daniel Levy is reluctant to bring him back as it would reflect badly on his decision-making.

Meanwhile, The Guardian reported that, while Pochettino is interested, he’d rather wait until the end of the season.

Again, it’s not ideal but it’s better than not wanting to come back altogether.

By the looks of it, Spurs could well appoint Ryan Mason as a caretaker and then go all out in the summer.

If the above reports are true, then Tottenham fans should be pleased by the prospect of Pochettino retaking the reins.

After all, he is – according to Andros Townsend – arguably “the best manager in the world”.
