Erik Lamela’s header from a Moussa Sissoko cross handed Spurs a half time lead, and whilst West Ham piled on the pressure in the second half, Tottenham held on for all three points.
West Ham can be encouraged by their second half showing though, and will hope to bounce back when they travel to take on Leicester City this weekend.
One player looking for a starting role is Robert Snodgrass, who started against Spurs and may now be given a greater role in light of Andriy Yarmolenko’s injury.
Snodgrass was praised for his work rate, and West Ham even tweeted a video of his relentless effort, chasing down Spurs players whilst hailing his endeavour.
The post seemed innocent enough, showing fans the passion exuded by West Ham players – but Tottenham fans have torn into the post, mocking the Hammers.
Tottenham fans mocked West Ham for celebrating a player essentially running around, asking when the DVD of Snodgrass running will be released whilst suggesting that the Hammers are embarrassing and asked if the official account is actually a parody.
