The Premier League legend featured a player from Newcastle’s team which lost against Spurs – who themselves don’t have a player in his XI.
Premier League legend and BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer has named his Matchweek 25 Team of the Week.
The selection saw players picked from nine different clubs, with Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers having two individuals in the starting XI.
Sol Bamba and Bobby Reid feature for the Bluebirds following their 2-0 win over Bournemouth, while Matt Doherty and Jonny Castro Otto are picked after Wolves’ 3-1 win at Everton.
Controversially, Shearer picked a player – Newcastle United’s Jamaal Lascelles – who ended up on the losing side against Tottenham Hotspur, who have no representation in his XI.

The game between Spurs and Newcastle at Wembley was settled by Son Heung-min’s 83rd-minute winner, his effort from range squeezing underneath Martin Dubravka’s body for the only goal in the 1-0 triumph.
Mauricio Pochettino likened the South Korea international to a “battery” after the game for never stopping and never giving up (BBC Sport), and the result temporarily put Tottenham second in the Premier League table.
