Spurs fans have been reacting to Ryan Mason’s impressive full debut for Hull City on Wednesday night, as he scored a stunning first goal for the club in the Tigers’ third round win over Stoke City.
In what was the 25-year-old’s first start for the club, Mason ran on to a cross and hit a wonderful looping volley with his outstretched left foot that flew past the Stoke goalkeeper and into the top corner.
It isn’t the first time the midfielder has scored a stunner in a significant match in his career either, with him doing the same thing at the same stage of the League Cup for Tottenham.

Mason famously scored a wonderful equalising goal for Spurs during a third round match against Nottingham Forest two years ago, his first ever strike for the club. That performance, after being a surprise starter, saw him begin the North London derby against Arsenal the weekend after for his Premier League debut, and started a spell of importance at his boyhood club that would eventually see him earn England honours.
Though Mason’s time at Spurs ultimately ended flat, Hull fans will certainly be hoping their record signing can make a similar impressive impact on what should end up being his first start for the Tigers when they take on Liverpool at the weekend.
