Kieran Trippier’s performance was criticised as Tottenham Hotspur secured a narrow win.

A number of Spurs fans have insisted that Mauricio Pochettino needs to upgrade his options at right-back after Kieran Trippier’s performance during their win against Newcastle at the weekend.
Tottenham needed a late strike from Son Heung-min to bag the three points as the Magpies looked to frustrate the home side at Wembley and limit the chances that they could carve out.
But some supporters appear to feel that some of the Spurs players did not help their cause by not asking enough questions of the opposition defenders – and Trippier was one member of the squad who came in for criticism.
The 28-year-old did not have too much to do defensively as Newcastle rarely threatened to cause an upset. And some fans felt that his crossing did not create enough problems.

Trippier has been a fantastic servant for Spurs. But he does appear to have come in for a lot of criticism this season, and plenty of supporters appear to want to see a new right-back signed in the summer.
Neither Trippier and Serge Aurier have shown their best form on a consistent basis this term, and Kyle Walker-Peters may not be quite ready to hold down the role as first-choice – though he clearly has a very bright future ahead of him.
