Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Karim Bellarabi.

Karim Bellarabi in action for Germany

German newspaper Bild reported on Monday that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen winger Karim Bellarabi.

The 27-year-old has been one of Leverkusen’s stand-out performers in recent seasons and Spurs are seemingly keen on bringing him to London.

Mauricio Pochettino could do with top-quality wide players, with Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou struggling for an influence this past season despite big-money moves to White Hart Lane last summer.

Rated at around £26 million, Bellarabi would be another expensive addition to Pochettino’s squad, and Tottenham fans on Twitter seem conflicted over whether they need the Germany international, who has won 11 caps.

Another big-money move for a winger who turns out to be something of a dud would be a brave move by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who spent a little over £40 million in bringing Sissoko and N’Koudou to the club.

Still, Bellarabi might well be better than both, though it remains to be seen whether he would be as influential in England as he has been in Germany. He has set up 37 goals 137 games for Leverkusen, netting 33 times.
