Victor Wanyama has seemingly looked to quash talk of a potential move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react to comments that Victor Wanyama made to Goal where he seemed to suggest that he had no intention of leaving the club during the summer despite speculation linking him with a move away.

Goal reports that both Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Tottenham midfielder, while the Daily Mail reported last month that Spurs would be willing to consider offers for the Kenya international provided that the bids were worth in the region of £50 million.

But Wanyama insisted that he is happy where he is currently and has no plans to consider a move to another club in the Premier League during the summer.

“I am happy at Tottenham and I am committed to the team. I am not aware of anything [regarding a move away] and I am very fine and happy where I am,” he told Goal.

Interestingly, the comments appear to have received a mixed response on social media. Some of the supporters feel that if Spurs are offered the chance to cash in on Wanyama this summer, they absolutely should after a campaign where he made just eight starts in the Premier League, with injury restricting his game-time.

But, on the other hand, there are those who feel that Wanyama committing his future to the club is a massive boost for Mauricio Pochettino’s men as, when fit, he is a hugely important member of the squad and losing him would be a major blow – especially with the Mail’s report last month also suggesting that Mousa Dembele may be on his way.
