Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks impressed the supporters with his display once he came on in the 1-0 defeat.

It seems quite fitting that in the game where it was impossible to ignore the NFL markings on the Wembley pitch, Harry Winks showed with his second-half cameo that he has the potential to establish himself as Spurs’ quarterback in the years to come.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Monday night. The game was a lot more open than the scoreline suggests, and Tottenham certainly had the chances to make City pay for their lack of ruthlessness when they were in command.
Spurs were unable to take their opportunities, but Pochettino does not need to work too hard to find one or two positives from the contest against the Premier League leaders – and Winks’ display was undoubtedly one massive positive.
The Englishman came on with just over 20 minutes remaining after a difficult night for Eric Dier, and the youngster looked a class apart. His composure on the ball was remarkable given the quality of the City players around him, and some of his passes were simply superb.

As the frustration inside Wembley grew, Winks showed absolutely no desire to shy away from getting onto the ball in the hope of creating the opening that Spurs were going to capitalise on.
And in response to his performance, a number of Spurs fans have taken to social media to laud Winks’ display and suggest that he must be used in the starting lineup more often as he provided the midfield with the class they lacked before his introduction.
