A number of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to criticise Erik Lamela’s display for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they concluded their Premier League campaign with a 2-2 draw on the final day of the season.

Pochettino made some changes for their clash with Everton, with Lamela one of those brought into the starting lineup while a couple of youngsters were handed a spot on the bench as Spurs kept one eye on their upcoming Champions League final.

Goals from Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen either side of two Toffees strikes ensured that the points were shared. It may not be a day that lives long in the memory – especially given what is to come for Tottenham – but some supporters are suggesting that it may prove to be a notable appearance for Lamela.

The 27-year-old left a number of fans feeling quite underwhelmed with his performance. And some have insisted that the time has come to sell the Argentinian at the end of the season.

Lamela has played a peripheral role this term, starting just nine of the 19 league games that he has featured in. And after his display against Marco Silva’s side, a handful of fans are not convinced that he should feature in their plans moving forward.

Of course, that could all change if he makes a decisive contribution in Madrid at the start of next month. But following the final day of the Premier League season, it appears that plenty of Tottenham fans would not mind too much if he did not feature against Liverpool anyway.
