Eric Dier fired Tottenham Hotspur ahead in the first-half, but the game unravelled for Mauricio Pochettino’s men after the break.

When Eric Dier scored Spurs’ equaliser on the half-hour mark of the North London derby, it appeared that Tottenham may have the momentum to go on and secure their seventh consecutive win in all competitions.
Unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, the 2-1 lead Spurs boasted at half-time was turned on its head as the home side put together a remarkable display in the second-half.
Tottenham’s defence was largely torn apart, and Dier has come in for a lot of criticism from the supporters on social media as he struggled as part of the back three at the Emirates.
He may have scored, but defensively, the 24-year-old struggled to cope with Arsenal’s waves of attacks. It was his deflection that saw the Gunners take the lead, and he made a hash of a challenge in the build-up to their fourth goal.

And several supporters are adamant that Dier cannot be considered good enough to feature in the back three in such a massive game. His versatility makes him an important and valuable member of the squad, but he is seemingly struggling to convince the fans that he gets into Spurs’ best lineup in any position.
Dier has arguably not been at his best so far this season, and some supporters seem to be keen to see his name left out of the side that will host Southampton on Wednesday.
