Tottenham’s Danny Rose in action
Tottenham Hotspur have today confirmed that left back Danny Rose has undergone knee surgery, and will subsequently miss the start of next season.
Rose, 26, enjoyed a superb campaign last season and featured for England at Euro 2016, with many predicting a huge season for the former Leeds United youth product.
With two goals and two assists in 18 appearances from left back, Rose starred again in the first half of the season, arguably becoming the finest player in his position in the Premier League.
However, Rose suffered a knee injury in the 0-0 draw at Sunderland back in January, and whilst Spurs have been managing his recovery in the hope of bringing him back before the end of the season, that won’t happen.

Instead, Tottenham have today confirmed that Rose has undergone knee surgery, and with an estimated rehabilitation time of three months, the defender looks set to miss the start of next season.
That’s a huge blow for Spurs and manager Mauricio Pochettino, and fans have been taking to Twitter this afternoon in order to offer their reactions to Rose’s extended absence.

Some have criticised the club for leaving his surgery so late, though others noted that Ben Davies has excelled in his absence, and deserves the chance to keep his place for the start of next season.
Many believe that Rose’s injury now means that he won’t leave the club this summer, though other left backs were suggested as potential transfer targets for the club, with fans keen on Manchester United’s Luke Shaw and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
