Ben Davies featured at centre-back as Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

A number of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to laud Ben Davies’ superb performance at the heart of the Spurs defence as Mauricio Pochettino’s men booked their place in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
Tottenham travelled to the Emirates looking to get some revenge for their defeat earlier in the month. And they managed to get that revenge, with goals from Son Heung-min and Dele Alli either side of the break setting up a last four tie with Chelsea.
The game against Arsenal marked the second time in as many games that Davies has featured at centre-back as Pochettino continues to deal with the cluster of injuries in that area of the field.
Davies and Toby Alderweireld helped Spurs keep a clean sheet in the weekend win against Burnley, but a strong Arsenal side was always going to ask a lot of questions of the pair.

But, while Davies had one shaky moment, he generally performed superbly in the role. He kept Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang extremely quiet as Spurs kept a clean sheet.
The Welshman has divided opinion since getting the chance to push ahead of Danny Rose in the pecking order. But some feel that he deserves a huge amount of credit for the way that he has adapted to playing in the middle.

And there were plenty of supporters on social media after the win on Wednesday suggesting that Pochettino has done it again by seemingly getting more out of a player that some fans suspected had some limitations, just as he appears to have done with Moussa Sissoko this term.
Here is the best of the reaction to Davies’ display in the cup win…
