Tottenham Hotspur forward Kazaiah Sterling has been backed for the first-team after scoring the winner on Monday.

A number of Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to laud Kazaiah Sterling as he scored a stunning solo goal for the under-23s in their 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Monday, with many believing that he now deserves his first-team chance.

It is almost exactly a year to the day that the 20-year-old made his debut for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, coming on in the final moments of Tottenham’s Champions League game against APOEL Nicosia.

It certainly seems unlikely that he will get a chance to repeat the trick when Spurs travel to the Nou Camp to face Barcelona in their final group game this time around. But perhaps he may have given Pochettino something to think about ahead of the festive period.

Sterling scored the goal that proved to be the winner shortly after the break against the German outfit. And given the class he showed to make it happen, it seems unlikely that the first-team boss will not have noticed.

Starting his run just inside the Wolfsburg half, the forward danced down Spurs’ left-wing before cutting inside and finding the bottom corner.

It is a goal that has prompted a number of Tottenham fans to suggest that he deserves a chance to show that he should be ahead of £12 million signing Fernando Llorente (via Sky Sports) in the pecking order, with the FA Cup tie against either Tranmere or Southport in January earmarked as the perfect fixture to hand him a proper chance.
