Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-min Son had a sensational September to walk away with the Player of the Month award from the Premier League.
The Spurs man beat Kevin De Bruyne, Adam Lallana, Theo Walcott and Romelu Lukaku to the prize. Winning a Player of the Month award is always a huge accolade for a player, but it is even more so for Son, as he becomes the first Asian footballer to do so in the Premier League.
It was some turnaround after a summer of uncertainty, with it not clear whether the South Korean star would even be at White Hart Lane after the transfer window shut.

Instead, Son returned from Olympic duty and, having remained on the bench against Liverpool, was given a chance away to Stoke – and he hasn’t looked back since.
“This is my dream, to get the award,” Son told the Premier League website.
“I want to get it a second time, a third time. When I take the award home my family will be crazy like you can’t believe; they will be really happy.
“I can’t believe I’m the first player from Asia [to win it]. I’m very thankful for the support. They support every day, every weekend, every game.”
The 24-year-old scored two Premier League braces, also assisting once, also as siting Dele Alli’s strike in the crunch 2-0 win over Manchester City at the start of October, where Son started up front.
With Harry Kane injured, the former Bayer Leverkusen man has proved himself a vital goal threat and match winner, and now looks set to continue the season as a crucial part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
