The Tottenham Hotspur faithful weren’t pleased with the Arsenal defender’s inclusion in the latest England squad.
Tottenham fans were once again left bemused by Roy Hodgson on Thursday afternoon.
In picking his latest England squad, the Three Lions boss chose out-of-form Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason – and a man who doesn’t even play for his club in Andros Townsend. Danny Rose was nowhere to be seen.
In the left-back’s stead, however, was Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs…

As Opta stats show, Rose has been far more potent than his Arsenal counterpart going forward in the Premier League this season.
The 24-year-old has scored three times, registered more assists and created more chances per game than Gibbs. He is also a marginally more accurate crosser and, defensively, wins more tackles. In terms of interceptions, clearances and headers per game, though, Arsenal’s Gibbs comes out on top.
Despite recent worries about his fitness, however, there has rarely been a stronger case for Tottenham’s Rose to earn a call-up. He has made mistakes this year and looked woeful defensively at times – but has improved markedly and some now see him as England’s best left-back.
The most frustrating aspect for many Spurs fans, meanwhile, is the fact Hodgson pledged to pick his England squads based on form and playing time at club level. Yeah right – Mason, Townsend and not Rose? Nice one, Roy…
