Alan Smith has stated that Tottenham fans will be ‘nodding in recognition’ at Serge Aurier not learning his lesson after his sending off in a friendly encounter on Tuesday, as he told Sky Sports Football.
England beat his Ivory Coast side 3-0, with the 29-year-old, in the first half receiving two bookings.
At the time, the Ivory Coast were losing 1-0, but that moment just deflated the whole game for his side as they went on to lose by three.

During his days in north London, Aurier wasn’t exactly known for his composure and cool head, but for his erratic defending and questionable decisions.
Well, less than a year after leaving Spurs, he is still showcasing those same bad habits, as Smith labelled his actions as ‘petulant’ yesterday.
“He is a hot-head and he can be one,” said Smith. “There will be plenty of Tottenham fans nodding in recognition.
“There’s not much in that. He’s got hold of Watkins and visa-versa. So to be petulant then and get booked for dissent. He has let everybody down.”

Tottenham paid big money for Aurier when he arrived from PSG in 2017, but they were quick to rip up his contract last summer.
Even though the right-back still had time left on his deal, both parties agreed to go their separate ways.
Spurs added Emerson Royal to their ranks, whilst Aurier became a free agent and headed to Spain where he is now playing for Villarreal.
It’s Champions League football for the right-back and there will be many Spurs fans thinking how he has managed to pull that one off.
