Tottenham Hotspur fans seemed to be impressed by the performance from Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook.

It may have been a hugely disappointing afternoon for Bournemouth on Sunday, but Lewis Cook seemingly managed to pick up a lot of admirers amongst the Tottenham fans for his performance for the Cherries.

The 21-year-old was at fault for Spurs’ third goal as he lost possession before Son Heung-min went up the other end and bagged his second of the game, but he looked brilliant against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

The youngster can battle in the middle of the park, but he is also capable of producing some wonderful passes – and at 21, he should only get better as he gains more experience at the highest level.

And after the win, Spurs fans took to social media to heap praise on the former Leeds United starlet, with many suggesting that he is destined to go to the top of the game, and one account even claiming that he could be good enough to be considered a future replacement for Mousa Dembele.

Here is what some of the Spurs supporters made of Cook’s performance…

It may be too soon to suggest whether Cook could be capable of stepping into the void that Dembele will leave behind in the coming years, but it certainly appears that he could become a very special talent in the future, and that should tempt Pochettino to consider targeting a move for the Cherries midfielder at the end of the season.

Cook has previously been called into the England squad and captained the national team’s under-20s to World Cup glory in 2017, so has experience of winning major honours already.

His mistake for the third goal on Sunday shows that he is not the finished article yet, but Pochettino is surely the ideal manager to ensure that he continues to develop at his current pace.

Tottenham have shown that they can battle on four fronts this season, but with the FA Cup the only trophy still on offer to them, it is perhaps fair to say that they need further depth to take that next step. Cook clearly has the potential to be something special in the near future, so making him a summer target should be something Pochettino seriously considers.
