Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that he would be open to signing a major contract with Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has told The Telegraph that he would like to sign a 10 or 15-year contract with the club amid new comments from Daniel Levy.
Spurs have enjoyed a strong start to the season with five wins in their first eight Premier League games, putting them in contention for the title once again.
Tottenham haven’t quite been able to get over the line in their last two bids for the Premier League crown, but they continue to look dangerous under Pochettino.
Pochettino will be hoping for a shock result at Real Madrid in the Champions League this evening, which would increase his stock even further after more than three years of improvement.
The Argentinian, prised away from Southampton in 2014, has turned Spurs into one of the most defensively sound teams in the Premier League, whilst also helping nurture young talents such as Dele Alli and Harry Kane.
Spurs fans absolutely love Pochettino, and they saw chairman Daniel Levy rave about the Tottenham boss, telling the Daily Mail that he would like Pochettino to become the club’s very own version of Sir Alex Ferguson by staying for 10 or even 15 more years.
Ahead of tonight’s trip to take on Real Madrid, Pochettino has told The Telegraph that he is very happy with Spurs, and if Levy wants him to sign a 15-year deal, then he would like to sign that contract.
Pochettino also ruled out any chance of him taking over Barcelona given his ties to Espanyol, and Spurs fans should now have real hope that he will stay with the club for the long term.
“I could not train Barcelona – it’s impossible,” said Pochettino. “I am very happy in Tottenham. I would love to stay 10 or 15 years here. It’s always up to the owner or chairman to decide if you’re a manager for a short time or long period. If he wants, I would like to sign that contract,” he added.
