England star Eric Dier has today extended his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, putting pen to paper on a new five-year deal.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has been at White Hart Lane since he moved from Sporting Lisbon at the beginning of the 2014/15 season.
Born in Cheltenham, the Dier family moved out to Portugal when Eric was seven years old. He was picked up by the Lisbon academy soon after and spent 11 years with the club, before making the move back to the country of his birth for a fee of £4 million.
Now entering his third season with the club, Dier has become one of the first names on the team sheet and has also gone on to win 11 caps for England.
Dier has become a key player for England
After finishing 3rd in the Premier League last year, Mauricio Pochettino has looked to hold on to his most valuable assets as the club looks to go two better this year.
Dier is the second player to commit to a long-term deal in the past week, with Christian Eriksen having signed on for four more years, while the Spurs manager is also looking to make a number of new contract announcements in the near future.
Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris are among those rumoured to be in the throes of contract discussions.
Will this man be next?
Spurs fans took to Twitter upon news of Dier’s contract extension, and the sentiment was unanimously positive. Dier is hugely popular at White Hart Lane – ever since he scored the winning goal on debut against West Ham – with his passion and fight in particular endearing him to fans of the club.
The newly contracted Dier and his teammates will be in action on Wednesday evening as they begin their Champions League campaign at Wembley with the visit of AS Monaco.
