Spurs fan opinion split over first event at brand new stadium

Tottenham have confirmed that they will hold a fan test event at their new ground in December. The Spurs fanbase is split over the announcement.

After so many delays to the opening of Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

The Lilywhites have confirmed on their official website that they will hold a first fan “familiarisation event” at their new 62,000-seater stadium on Sunday 16 December.

In what looks to be a huge step towards opening their brand new home, Spurs will give 6,000 fans tours of the South Stand and podium areas during the four-hour event.

A ticket ballot will take place for season-ticket holders and those successful will have to pay £1 each in order to test the stadium’s ticketing systems.

A number of delays had beset the opening of the stadium over the past few months, with the grand unveiling against Liverpool in September postponed over safety concerns (official website).

Tottenham subsequently announced in October that the stadium would not be ready until 2019, and a date for its first game remains yet to be confirmed.
