Tottenham Hotspur are planning to make a bid for Nottingham Forest attacker Brennan Johnson in the coming days.

Brennan Johnson is emerging as a key Tottenham Hotspur target in the final days of the transfer window.

That is according to Football London, who report that Tottenham are expected to make a bid for Brennan Johnson before the window shuts.

There is just over a week of the transfer window to go now and Spurs still need signings.

A versatile attacker with pace appears to be the priority for Tottenham amid interest in Gent striker Gift Orban.

Johnson is wanted for that role too with Tottenham potentially ready to splash the cash after selling Harry Kane.

The Welshman has played all across the front line for Forest and seems to tick the boxes for Tottenham.

Spurs may also have received a boost amid claims from the Daily Mail that Johnson prefers a move to Tottenham over Chelsea.

That certainly gives Tottenham a real chance of landing Johnson but Forest are seeking around £50million – meaning Spurs will have to dig deep.

Why would Tottenham Hotspur go for Brennan Johnson over Gift Orban?

The hype surrounding Orban is enormous right now having become a real sensation with Gent.

Tottenham fans may love to see the Nigerian arrive but Spurs could go in another direction by instead signing Johnson, who has been hailed as a ‘fantastic player’ by boss Steve Cooper.

The Welshman scored eight times last season for Forest and featured in every Premier League game.

Those numbers maybe aren’t as eye-catching as Orban’s in Belgium, but those Johnson goals came at a much higher level.

Johnson already being adjusted to Premier League life will really appeal to Tottenham, as will his homegrown status.

Johnson could cost twice the price of Orban but if Tottenham want a little more instant impact over the long-term potential of Orban, then there could well be a huge big coming in for the Forest star soon enough.
