Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle over the transfer of Emerson Royal, according to Sport.
What’s the story?
Sport are reporting today (12:23pm UK time) that Tottenham have agreed to pay Barcelona over €23 million (£19.72m) in transfer fee for the 22-year-old Brazil international right-back.
Spurs are now in talks with the young right-back and are discussing personal terms.
Sport have added that Tottenham could make an official announcement of the transfer in the next few hours.
Mundo Deportivo are reporting that Spurs will pay close to €30 million (£25.73m) in total for the youngster.
Tottenham transfer happening?
Earlier today, Mundo Deportivo reported that Emerson did not want to leave for Tottenham because he was living his dream playing for Barcelona.
However, it seems that a transfer is about to happen.
Of course, until and unless a player has signed on the dotted line, expect the unexpected, but based on the reports in Sport and Mundo Deportivo, it does appear likely that Emerson will become a Tottenham player before the summer transfer window closes tomorrow.
Emerson is a very good and promising young right-back who is only 22 years of age.
The Brazilian can only improve and get better in the coming years and will give Spurs head coach Nuno another option at right-back.
