Spurs could potentially be missing their talismanic striker for a month after he picked up an injury in the Premier League loss to Manchester United.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has sought to play down the impact of Harry Kane’s injury on the team and, by extension, on how the club could get on in the next few weeks.

The England striker hurt his ankle during Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United and was seen hobbling off the Wembley turf at the end of the match.

According to The Guardian, Spurs are having to wait for the swelling around Kane’s ankle to subside before being able to scan the joint.

However, given the 25-year-old’s prior ankle injuries over the course of his career, an estimated timescale of one month on the sidelines has been suggested by the report.

At present, Tottenham have Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen as like-for-like replacements for Kane, while Lucas Moura has also played up front this season.

Given the Lilywhites didn’t sign any new players in the summer, have the costs of a new stadium to factor in during the January transfer window, and Son Heung-min is on international duty, the Englishman’s injury will come as particularly bad news for the fanbase.

However, Lloris insists Tottenham will cope just fine, telling Goal.com: “We all know how important Harry is in our team but he is not all of our team. Football is about the team and every player is ready to help the team.

“[The collective] is the only way to get trophies. It is not about one or two players, but, as you know, we all know the importance of ‘H’.”

Spurs have key games in three different competitions between now and the end of the month – Premier League encounters against Fulham and Watford, the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Chelsea, and the FA Cup fourth-round trip to Crystal Palace.
