There was heartbreak for Tottenham Hotspur and England supporters last night as a Harry Kane penalty miss resulted in the Three Lions exiting the World Cup.
Gareth Southgate’s side lost 2-1 to France in Qatar.
The Tottenham hitman had converted from 12 yards to cancel out Aurelien Tchouameni’s rocket of an opener after 17 minutes.
But minutes after Olivier Giroud headed Les Bleus back in front, the Spurs attacker had another chance from the penalty spot to equalise.

However, Kane blazed well over the crossbar and England bowed out before the semi-final stage.
Here’s how former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara reacted to the moment Kane missed on Twitter:
Kane was his nation’s best player in the first half, labelled ‘brilliant’ by Jamie Carragher [HITC Sport].
He was at the heart of everything England created and if they were going to earn parity at the break, chances are it would’ve been through the Lilywhites hero.
No doubt the 29-year-old will be utterly heartbroken.
This could’ve been his final chance to win the World Cup with the Three Lions and although he might still be actively playing in 2026, whether he’s on the international scene by then is debatable.
What isn’t up for debate is the fact that Tottenham need him to dust himself down relatively quickly.
The North Londoners are back in Premier League action away to Brentford in two weeks.
