In comments reported by Football London, Mauricio Pochettino offered a pretty clear response when asked whether Georges-Kevin Nkoudou remains in his plans amid reports that he is still available to leave Spurs this month.

Nkoudou reminded the Tottenham fans that he was still at the club with a superb stoppage-time cross that allowed Harry Winks to score the winning goal against Fulham at the weekend.

But despite making such a crucial impact, it appeared that his future could still be in some doubt. The Daily Mail reported that he remained available to leave the club during the January window.

However, when asked if Nkoudou featured in his plans, Pochettino’s response suggested that the reports on his future may be wide of the mark.

“I think that’s completely different [to Vincent Janssen’s situation]. Never was GK Nkoudou in a similar situation as Vincent. If GK was in the squad or involved, like at Fulham, it’s because he is in our plans, in Tottenham’s plans,” he said, as reported by Football London.

There is a long way to go, but perhaps Nkoudou could take encouragement from the likes of Erik Lamela and Moussa Sissoko, who have both turned their fortunes around in recent years.

Sissoko, in particular, now seems to be an incredibly popular member of the squad and is really showing this season why Tottenham decided to sign him from Newcastle.

Nkoudou clearly needs to make the most of this opportunity to follow in Sissoko’s footsteps. But that moment of quality at Fulham and Pochettino’s subsequent comments hint that he has a real chance to make up for lost time.
