Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino had encouraging news on the progress of the club’s injured goalkeeper, France international Hugo Lloris, in comments appearing in the Hertfordshire Mercury.
The Spurs captain was expected to miss four weeks of football after coming off in the first half against Everton, in news announced by the club website on August 16, with last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace, the coming weekend’s tie with Liverpool, and then the club’s away trip to Stoke City all falling within that range.

And Pochettino confirmed that Lloris is absent from the squad for Saturday’s fixture against Jurgen Klopp’s side, and would go on to miss out for France in their international games.
However, he suggested the former Lyon man would be available after the international break.
“He’s very good. It’s difficult for Saturday but it’s sure that after the international break he’s with us again and available for the team,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by the Mercury.
“We’re happy because it wasn’t a big issue, his injury, and we believe and we think he’s available very soon.
“He’s not available to play [for France], he’ll stay with us in the next two weeks.”

Tottenham’s opening Champions League match is set for August 13 or 14 but is as yet undecided despite the North Londoners being drawn into a group with CSKA Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco on Thursday.
That may also have come too early for the 29-year-old, while a home match against Sunderland on September 18 was also one of the first games beyond the initial four week timeframe.
If Lloris is in fact back for the match with Stoke on September 10, it means he would be back four weeks to the day from the Premier League opener at Goodison Park, but a little earlier than when news of his injury was released.
And not a moment too soon for Tottenham’s fan base.
