Speculation is rife that Kion Etete leaving Tottenham Hotspur is a matter of time.
The towering Spurs striker is reportedly on the verge of joining Cardiff City, after undergoing a medical with the Championship outfit today.
Etete is one of the more eye-catching members of Tottenham’s academy, largely due to his 6’6 frame [The Daily Mail].
And with the youngster being a striker, you wonder if this could come back to haunt the Lilywhites’ supremo Fabio Paratici.
Kion Etete leaving Tottenham Hotspur?
It would be a stretch to consider Etete as Tottenham’s version of Erling Haaland because, honestly, the Manchester City attacker is a thousand things more than just a tall centre-forward.
However, considering his height, Etete would and could’ve been an ideal plan-b option for Antonio Conte going forward.
Perhaps not this season because, talented as Etete is, he’s still only 20.
But longer term, this is a physical specimen who can cause problems for Premier League defences and it’ll be fascinating to see how he develops in the second tier.
A couple of good years in the Championship could see him rewarded with a return to the Premier League.
And considering that Tottenham are about to sell him for £500,000, well that’s absolutely peanuts and it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if the North Londoners come to regret offloading him.
Kion Etete leaving Tottenham Hotspur is a better move for him than it is for Spurs.
