The piece goes on to say that it would cost around £13m to sign the 26-year-old, who joined Bremen from Copenhagen in his native Denmark in January 2017.

Danish outlet Bold also claims that Brighton and Hove Albion and Everton are keeping tabs on Delaney, but the 26-year-old is ignoring the talk around his future.

“It’s a never ending story since I signed,” the Dane said. “The newspapers here must fill two double pages about Werder every day so many things are written. It’s something you get used to quickly, but not something I give time to.

“I do not read so many German newspapers, but there has been talk there in the last few windows. Such a thing is very natural when you have delivered on a fine level.

“I played a good half season for Werder in my first year and also had a good period with the national team, and when you hit such a level, rumours can arise. You just have to take it as a compliment.”

Delaney can play anywhere in midfield, sometimes operating as a number ten and sometimes just in front of the back four, making him a versatile option in the middle.
