Spurs could sign a player with “considerable potential” in Yacine Adli, former France international and Bordeaux chief scout Yannick Stopyra has told Tuttosport, via Calciomercato.
After a summer in which Paris Saint-Germain have added global superstars Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi to their already sparkling squad, you have to wonder how much up-and-coming talent will give up on their Parc des Princes dreams.
If you’re a promising young centre-back or highly rated left-winger, why on earth would you stick around in the hope a first-team role will present itself with Ramos and Messi taking pride and place in PSG’s petrodollar-funded project?
The likes of Moussa Dembele, Odsonne Edouard, Christopher Nkunku, Mike Maignan, Jonathan Ikone and Kingsley Coman all walked away from PSG after growing tired of life at a club where home-grown youngsters are often sacrificed for shirt-shifting Galacticos.
Adli did the same when Bordeaux came calling in 2019, PSG selling one of the jewels in their academy crown for just £4 million.
Two years later, Adli has matured to the extent he’s now a target for Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur and Ligue 1 champions Lille (FootMercato).
According to Bordeaux’s president, AC Milan want him too.
It seems only a matter of time before Adli is viewed as another ‘one that got away’ for Les Parisiens.

“I can’t say if Yacine will sign for Milan or not. But I assure you we are talking about a guy with considerable potential,” says Stopyra.
“At PSG, he played with great players right from the start. This means he can play in any team where players of the highest level play.”
Adli has often been compared to Juventus powerhouse and France international Adrien Rabiot – and you can see why.
Tall, technically gifted and sporting a mop of wavy brown hair, they certainly look the same – but that doesn’t necessarily mean they play the same.
“I coached Adrien when he was in a French youth academy. He and Adli are two different players. Yacine is more offensive, but he should score more,” adds Stopyra.
“Rabiot is more experienced and has more tactical experience.”
