According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Sessegnon has agreed to join Hoffenheim despite home interest from Southampton, Brighton and Celtic.

The 20-year-old has struggled to break in at Tottenham since his move last summer.

Spurs paid Fulham some £25 million for the versatile left-sided player, and manager Jose Mourinho feels he will benefit from a loan away from the club.

The Daily Mail claim Southampton, Brighton and Celtic were all keen.

But the Premier League duo and Scottish Premiership champions are set to miss out as Sessegnon is due in Germany on Sunday ahead of a switch to Hoffenheim.

Sessegnon will follow in the footsteps of fellow Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson who also had a loan spell at Hoffenheim, spending the 2018-19 campaign at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.

The youngster predominantly came through the ranks as a left-back. However, he has shown capabilities of playing further forward, scoring 15 goals for Fulham in 2017-18.

Spurs signing Sergio Reguilon decreased Sessegnon’s chances of breaking in at left-back, while further forward he is still raw compared to Tottenham’s fellow attacking talent.

A year away in the Bundesliga could work wonders for the England U21 international.

Southampton may have seen the player as an ideal back-up option to Ryan Bertrand, while Brighton’s Solly March may lack competition with the Seagulls.

Celtic, meanwhile, haven’t strengthened their fullback options this past summer with left-back Greg Taylor starting seven Scottish Premiership games thus far.
