In 2018, Spurs became the first team in Premier League history not to make a summer signing since the transfer window’s creation in 2003.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has spoken out on manager Mauricio Pochettino’s decision not to sign any new players in the summer of 2018.
Last year, Spurs became the first club in the history of the Premier League not to make a summer signing since the creation of the transfer window in 2003.
The Lilywhites faced criticism from some quarters for their summer inactivity when they suffered back-to-back defeats to Watford and Liverpool, but on the whole they’ve had an impressive campaign so far.
At present, Tottenham remain fighting on four fronts, sitting just six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool in the table, boasting a 1-0 lead against Chelsea in their Carabao Cup semi-final, and looking forward to games against Borussia Dortmund and Crystal Palace in the Champions League and FA Cup respectively.
Nonetheless, the Spurs contingent continues – and will undoubtedly continue – to be tested as the wear and tear of a long, four-pronged season takes its toll, with injuries and suspensions always at risk of upsetting the balance of any squad.

Casting an eye back to the summer, Kane insists that Pochettino’s trust in his squad has been repaid by the players working hard and doing their utmost to keep improving, while claiming that there is plenty of competition for places anyway.
“The manager didn’t want to bring players in for the sake of it, he was happy with the squad he had,” Kane told Sky Sports News. “That gives you huge belief as a player.
“If the manager doesn’t buy players it shows he is willing to trust and you want to repay him by working hard and improving yourself on the pitch. We’ve got a lot of players fighting for places and the competition for places is good.”
