The winger is currently at Leeds United but could some small print impact a summer sale?
Leeds United have had mixed fortunes with their summer signings, with winger Hadi Sacko struggling to perform on a consistent basis and now finding his place under threat following the arrival of two new wingers in January.
But if Leeds do want to make Sacko’s loan move permanent in the summer, the recent publication of Sporting Lisbon’s financial report makes for interesting reading.
Sacko signed for Sporting from French side Bordeaux in 2014 but rather than star for the Portuguese side as expected, he featured predominantly for their B team prior to his switch to Elland Road.
As reported by the BBC back in the summer, Leeds have the option of signing Sacko out right at the end of his temporary stint. However the fact that Sporting will have to pay Bordeaux 20 per cent of any sale could push the price up.
With just two goals and four assists in 34 appearances for Leeds thus far, Whites manager Garry Monk may simply decide he does not want Sacko beyond this season, especially if the club return to the Premier League.
But if the Leeds boss does still have a place in his squad for the 22-year-old, he may have to ask joint owners Massimo Cellino and Andrea Radrizzani to dig a little deeper to cover the 20 per cent Sporting are obliged to pass directly to Bordeaux.
