Speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, Jamie Redknapp has been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season preparations and what he’s heard about Antonio Conte’s rigorous training methods.
Redknapp, as a former Spurs player and current pundit, is in touch with a few members of the Tottenham squad, and now, he’s shared what he’s heard from within the team about Conte’s training this summer.
According to the pundit, the players have been shocked by Conte’s training, but at the same time, the core of the squad are feeling fitter and stronger than ever before.

Redknapp shared what he knows about Spurs’ training.
“This is the first pre-season under Antonio Conte. For some of the players, I’ve spoken to some of the players, and it’s been a bit of an eye-opener, but they feel fit they feel stronger than ever and that’s why I think Tottenham will be in the mix. I wouldn’t like to say they’ll challenge for the title just yet, but I’d be amazed if they don’t get a trophy this year. Everything is ready for Conte to get that trophy,” Redknapp said.
Eye-opening
If Antonio Conte’s training methods are eye-opening for this group of players then they must be unlike anything any other manager is doing at the moment.
Don’t forget, a number of these players will have worked under Mauricio Pochettino, an infamously tough trainer who regularly made his players do double sessions, but it sounds as though Conte is another step up from that.
The fact that the Spurs squad are feeling fitter and stronger than ever is a real testament to Conte’s abilities as a manager, and these pre-season preparations should stand Spurs in good stead for the remainder of the campaign.
