Everton are reportedly looking to snap up Michy Batshuayi as Marco Silva’s side aim to add a striker.

According to a report in The Sun on Sunday (20th January, page 67), Everton are prepared to bid £40 million for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, but doing so would be a huge gamble.

Everton are on the hunt for a striker, and Batshuayi is a player who is thought to be on their radar.

The Belgian international is believed to be available for transfer, with Marco Silva now keen to bring him to Goodison Park.

However, Everton would be paying over the odds for Batshuayi if they were to lodge a £40 million offer.

Batshuayi’s career in England has hardly been a rip-roaring success so far, with his goalscoring record in the Premier League poor.

Batshuayi has hit seven goals in 32 matches in England’s top flight, and he has struggled so far this season.

The 25-year-old scored just once in 15 league games on a loan spell for Valencia, and for Everton to part with such mammoth funds on him would be a huge risk.

While Batshuayi has shown a clinical streak in front of goals, there are obvious flaws in his game.

And if Everton have so much money to spend on a striker, they may be better off waiting for a strong option to become available.
