Glasgow Rangers are among the favourites to sign the former Manchester United winger this summer.

According to bookmakers Bet Victor, Rangers are 6/1 joint-second favourites to sign Portuguese international Nani this summer, and if Gers boss Pedro Caixinha can pull that off his reputation as a canny negotiator would be well and truly secured.

Ever since Caixinha took the manager’s job at Ibrox, Rangers fans have been hearing stories of his reputation across Europe, with the recent new signings almost invariably citing the 46-year-old as the main reason they opted for a stint in Scotland.

That is all well and good, but so far Rangers have predominantly signed veterans such as Bruno Alves or players struggling for game time at their current clubs like Benfica’s Dalcio.

Bringing in Nani would be another story all together, with the 30-year-old possessing the innate ability and box of tricks to take Rangers to the next level.

Currently on the books at Valencia, a move for Nani would be a tough one to pull off for the Gers, but this is surely where his countryman Caixinha comes in.

It is one thing convincing a young player making do with B team football that he should head to Ibrox, and quite another bringing in a man who featured 25 times in La Liga last season.

Caixinha is certainly making good on his promise to strengthen the Rangers side he inherited at the back end of last season, and Nani would be the icing on the cake.

Sometimes infuriating, not always effective but with an eye for the spectacular and the ability to take Scotland by storm, Nani’s signing would – if it happened – define Caixinha’s Rangers tenure.
