Wigan hailed Joe Gelhardt as a ‘special talent’ on Twitter after he made a switch to newly-promoted Leeds United on Monday.

The League One side sent a classy message about their player to Leeds after his transfer was confirmed and hailed the striker as an ‘exceptional young man’.

As the days edge closer to Leeds taking to the pitch once again as a Premier League club, they announced two signings on the same day – the return of Jack Harrison and Gelhardt’s arrival.

This was the message Wigan put out on their Twitter account to Leeds regarding Gelhardt, as their highly-rated youngster now takes the step up to the big time.

Whilst transfer rumours have been swirling around left, right and centre, it has been a pretty quiet window for Premier League clubs, thus far.

But as players and coaching staff return to training during these coming days and weeks, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the deals flow through.

Leeds will be hoping to be one of the busier teams this summer, as they need more quality and added depth if they are to showcase what they are all about in England’s top-flight.

The one name the Elland Road faithful want to see return to the club is Ben White, who has since gone back to Brighton after his pretty successful loan spell in Yorkshire.
