Reported Arsenal and Everton target Dominik Szoboszlai believes he has ‘shown what I’m capable of’ after being named the Austrian Bundesliga’s Player of the Year, while speaking to Nemzeti Sport.
Since Project Re-start got underway in Europe, few players have been able the match the impact made by a Hungarian wonderkid who is dominating games already at the age of just 19.
A remarkable run of form in the last few weeks means Szoboszlai has ended the 2019/20 campaign with 12 goals and 18 assists – not to mention some truly sensational free-kicks from a man who really can ‘bend it like Beckham’.
According to the Guardian in June, Arsenal will pursue a deal for the £18 million-rated play-maker if they qualify for Europe, while Everton have been linked too via TuttoJuve.
And if the insipid performances of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Alex Iwobi and Andre Gomes are anything to go by during Monday’s miserable defeat at Tottenham, Carlo Ancelotti could do with a player of Szoboszlai’s game-changing talents.
“In the period after the shutdown, I showed what I was capable of, gave eleven assists and scored eight goals. I don’t think I disappointed anyone with that,” Szoboszlai said, reflecting on being voted the Player of the Year by opposition coaches and presidents throughout the Bundesliga.

“It is a special pleasure that, in addition to the winning the league and the cup, I also received a high level of individual recognition. I hope this was not the last time in my career.
“I’ve scored more goals, given more assists, played better football, and so I feel more successful for myself.”
Leicester City have also been linked with Szoboszlai via The Sun in May, with The Foxes apparently seeing him as a potential replacement for James Maddison.
But with Leicester’s number ten set to stick around for at least another year, it seems like a straight battle between Everton and Arsenal for a midfielder who is already putting together an enviable collection of silverware.
