Arsenal seemingly won’t be signing Michael Olise this summer with Chelsea now on the verge of signing the Crystal Palace star.

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise after activating his release clause.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Chelsea have now paid the £35million release clause in Olise’s Palace contract.

It’s stated that Chelsea now expect Olise to complete his move very soon as their spending spree continues.

The Blues have snapped up Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo and are set to land Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia too.

The recruitment doesn’t end there though as Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now pressing ahead with a deal to sign Olise too.

Olise is currently out injured having suffered a torn hamstring whilst on international duty with the French Under-21’s this summer.

Olise isn’t expected to play again until the end of September but there should be no issues with his Stamford Bridge medical.

Arsenal won’t be signing Chelsea-bound Michael Olise

The Blues appear to have fought off major competition to sign Olise.

90Min reported late in July that Arsenal and Manchester City were both challenging Chelsea for Olise.

Arsenal appeared to be keen on adding a right-sided winger to offer support for Bukayo Saka.

Olise could have been that player, especially as he’s a left-footer just like Saka too.

The Frenchman was outstanding last season, bagging two goals and 11 assists in 37 Premier League games.

Hailed as a ‘special talent’ by Patrick Vieira, we can understand why Arsenal were keen to land Olise.

Yet with Olise previously spending seven years in the Chelsea youth ranks, maybe this is a case of unfinished business for the 21-year-old and the Hammersmith-born talent will now return to West London.
