Reported Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers target Odilon Kossounou is a ‘special player’ and will cost more than the £18 million fee reported in the media, agent Patrick Mork told InterLive.

The runaway Jupiler League leaders raked in around £22 million when they sold Wesley Moraes to Aston Villa in the summer of 2019.

And if Kossounou is going to join the club situated some 20 miles up the M6, it seems he would cost a similarly hefty sum.

The Sun claims that Wolves are interested in the 6ft 2ins centre-half. Kossounou also allegedly has admirers at Arsenal, with the Gunners obtaining glowing references from former players Emannuel Eboue and Gervinho; both of whom, like the 20-year-old, hail from the Ivory Coast (Mirror).

“His price? The fee suggested by the media is too low,” Mork explained when asked about the future of his in-demand client.

“He is a special player. For me, he is a complete defender, very fast as he showed last year in the Champions League against a certain (Kylian) Mbappe.

Milan giants Inter and AC have both been linked with Kossounou too, with Mork admitting that there are offers from Italy on the table.

“Serie A is a possible destination. For Odilon, we are talking to many clubs, especially from Italy. We have received various offers both last summer and now.”

Blessed with explosive acceleration and an impressive physique at 6ft 2ins, Kossounou is one of the first names on the team-sheet for a Brugge side cruising towards the Belgian top-flight title.
