We’re beginning to lose track of the amount of managers linked with Tottenham, ever since Daniel Levy handed José Mourinho his P45.

We’ve seen Brendan Rodgers, Gareth Southgate, Roberto Martinez and Graham Potter tipped to move to north London.

More recently, a number of Italian managers have been mentioned, such as Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri.

Another Italian linked with the job is Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 63-year-old has worked wonders with the Serie A outfit, taking them from a relegation threatened side to a Champions League club.

According to Corriere della Sera, Spurs have made contact with the former Inter Milan boss.

Gasperini led his side to the Last 16 of the Champions League this season, where they were knocked out by Real Madrid.

Before that clash, he had to prepare his Atalanta side for a Group Stage clash against Liverpool at Anfield, which they won 2-0.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jürgen Klopp knew he was in for a tough game, as he praised Gasperini’s tactical approach.

The Liverpool Echo quote him as saying: “This is the biggest challenge for us so far in the Champions League. Atalanta are special in their approach, slightly similar to Leeds, style and organisation-wise, so it will be a tough one.”

If Klopp thinks your tactics are special, that it’s safe to say you’re doing something right.

Sadly, we wouldn’t put our money on Gasperini replacing Mourinho.

Why? Well, the report from Corriere della Sera claims that he would only leave Atalanta for Juventus.

It also states that Gasperini’s English is quite poor – the Italian news outlet describe his weak language skills as an ‘almost insurmountable’ barrier.

However, if Levy can somehow get him to north London, there are plenty of encouraging signs to suggest he could be successful.
