Leeds United drew 1-1 with Aston Villa on Friday night.

Leeds United were pegged back late on as they drew 1-1 with Aston Villa at Elland Road on Friday night.
Thomas Christiansen’s side were looking to build on a 2-0 away win at Barnsley when they welcomed Aston Villa to Elland Road, facing a tough test against Steve Bruce’s in-form side.

However, Leeds took the lead in the first half as defender Pontus Jansson headed home Pablo Hernandez’s corner at the near post, with the Swede bagging his first goal of the season.
The Whites pushed for a second but couldn’t find it, and they were made to pay late on as Henri Lansbury slammed home an equaliser for Villa, with his strike hitting the post and heading into the net.
After Saturday’s results, Leeds sit eighth in the Championship table, just five points adrift of the play-off places after 20 games.

Following the final whistle on Friday, Leeds forward Kemar Roofe – who came on as a substitute for the injured Hernandez after 42 minutes – took to Twitter to react to the result.
Roofe noted that another point helps Leeds get back on track, and praised fans for producing a special atmosphere at Elland Road, as is the case on an almost weekly basis.
