La Liga wonderkid Gabri Veiga lauded Leeds United manager target Carlos Carvalhal following his exit as Celta de Vigo boss.

Whilst Leeds United failed to avoid relegation on the final day of the 2022/23 Premier League season, Celta Vigo managed to showcase their worth by beating champions Barcelona 2-1 on the final day of the campaign to stay up.

Gabri Veiga netted a brace, but it turned out to be manager Carlos Carvalhal, who is now being linked to the Leeds gig in the Championship, final game in charge and the club’s 21-year-old star reacted to his exit via his Instagram story:

“I will always be grateful to you guys for the great deal and the trust since day one,” said Veiga. “Wish you guys the best of luck for your future.

“Thank you so much for everything, mister.”

Is Carvalhal Leeds United bound?

The 57-year-old certainly knows his way around English football, especially the Championship following his notable spell at a certain Sheffield Wednesday.

But with Leeds now looking for a new coach, after deciding against giving Sam Allardyce the gig long-term, there are suggestions that Carvalhal could be appointed.

Well, Celta and Carvalhal’s call to part ways certainly spices up those rumours because it makes it much easier for the Whites to appoint him now that he is a free agent.

But with the Elland Road faithful in a pretty bad mood after relegation, it probably wouldn’t go down well if the 49ers’ first step was to bring in Carvalhal as their new coach.

Gabri Veiga Premier League bound?

Another Celta star that could be headed to England is Spain’s rising star, Veiga.

Over the course of the season, he scored 11 and assisted four for his boyhood club, and in truth, without him, they would probably be down.

But now there is talk that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, amongst other Premier League sides, are keen to bring his talents to the best league in the world.
